New Blogger Question

So, I am pretty new to this book blogging thing and I have a question for all you veteran bloggers. How is is that you get books to review? Do you contact the authors personally or do you go through the publishers? Or do they contact you?

  1. The best information about running blogs can be found at The Story Siren and <a href="http:///www.parajunkee.com>Parajunkee's View</a>. Both bloggers do regular features on different aspects of blogging, especially how to go about getting books for review or daily ways to run a blog. I know their advice has been invaluable to me, though I'm definitely still building contacts.

  2. A lot of times Authors and publishers contact me... but when I was just starting out I sent them ARC requests. You need to have a specific book in mind when requesting and include your blog URL, blog stats and previous review. I also have found that when I do a feature on a book I want.. Like a interview request or a blog post I get authors to respond to them. It takes time but if you are patient you will start to build a good following with publishers and agents and they will keep coming back to your blog for reviews!!! Hope this helps. If you have any other questions feel free to email me! I'm always around!!

  4. I've randomly had publishers contact me. Simon & Schuster did out of the blue. The three books I received from them were electronically. I usually get my ARC's from NetGalley. I've contacted publishers. It's hit or miss. Sometimes I never hear anything and other times a book will appear in my mailbox! As for the recent giveaways on my blogs...those came from authors who were nice enough to donate!
